Keep up to date with all the news happening in school at the moment.
What a super day we have had today. All of the children and staff came to school wearing their Ancient Greek dress, ready for the arrival of the Bassetlaw Torch.
The Bassetlaw Torch is currently travelling around all 65 schools in the Bassetlaw District.
Athletes from Worksop Harriers were on hand to run the torch through the school grounds, whilst the children and staff waved their union flags and cheered as loudly as they could.
Next was a special welcome ceremony for the torch. Mrs. Gillett opened the assembly by giving a speech in her fluent Greek and Miss Read asked for the torch to be brought in and placed in the hall. Our local MP, John Mann, then gave a speech to the children.
He hoped all of them would have a go at different sports and hoped that the London 2012 Olympic Games would encourage Gateford children to take up sport.
Handing out certificates to our successful, Bassetlaw champions, athletics team, Mr. Mann encouraged everyone to do their best and and be proud of the school.
The rest of the day was spent with children trying their hand at some Olympic sports that they may not have tried before.
Our thanks go to Worksop Harriers, John Mann MP, the children, parents and staff for their support and especially to Miss Read, for organising the whole event.
All in all, another really great day at Gateford Park Primary School.

How fantastic it is to have friends from thousands of miles away! We were delighted to welcome Mrs. Lu Huaying to our school.
Mrs. Lu is the headteacher of Jiangbin Primary School, which is to be found in Jinhua, Zhejiang Province, China. She came with her translator, Miss Yang Xinyuan, to find out a little about the education system in England. Mr. Letton had met Mrs. Lu before, when he visited her school in China in 2010.
Mrs. Lu spent time touring the school. She commented several times about Gateford Park children's excellent behaviour and was delighted when the children greeted her with a cheery 'Ni hao!'
Mrs. Lu spent time teaching Class 6 and 7. She showed the children how to do some traditional Chinese paper crafts. She also brought along some Christmas cards that the children at Jiangbin had made for our children.
After that, Mrs. Lu and Mr. Letton talked about how they would make a strong link between the two schools, so that the children can make friends with and learn about people from a very different culture.
Our link will really begin in the New Year. We can't wait!
