Minotaur

to Minotaur Class

Mrs Gough, Mrs Dawes and Year Six

Welcome back, Minotaurs and families!

We do hope you've had a wonderful Easter break and are prepared to discover the testing, turbulent times of the Tudors! We have so much going on over the next six weeks so please be sure to check the 'diary dates' section below to make sure you don't miss a beat!

Math this half-term

  • Completing our work on algebra
  • Recapping key arithmetic concepts and methods
  • Revising all areas we have covered this year

English

Throughout the next 6 weeks, we will be including drama in our English work. Pupils will study and write short stories, diary entries and information texts. We will be focusing heavily on selecting the appropriate register, choosing fitting vocabulary and employing effective techniques based on the text type. At this point in Year Six, we expect pupils to be taking a more responsible attitude towards their writing. This includes using clear, joined handwriting in all work; reflecting on their work, checking spellings more independently and editing their writing to ensure it is their very best; and using punctuation accurately.

Don’t forget: in Y6, all pupils should be reading for pleasure daily. Fifteen minutes before bed is an ideal time. Mrs Dawes is still keeping track of reads recorded in home-school diaries for this term’s reading prizes! Make sure you get your planners signed or it'll be off with your head!
