WELCOME TO THE YEAR 5 CLASS PAGE

For our final half term, we are returning to Earth and a whole school topic of “The World” is to be done by each class. We will be focusing on continents, countries and capitals. We will be looking closely at cultures and art and also different environments.

In maths, we are going back to decimals, looking at position and direction, negative numbers, volume an d units of measurement.

In English we are reading The Goldfish Boy for whole class read. This book touches on sensitive issues such as mental health (the main character has OCD) and faces loss/grief. All of these matters will be dealt with the utmost respect and will be discussed in sensitive ways. With that being said, the book is mainly an exciting read and doesn't focus too much on these issues.
