Welcome to Dragon Class.
Here are a few bits and pieces to help you understand how our class runs.
Dragon class runs on a job share basis. Miss Vause takes the class on Mondays and Tuesdays and Mrs Green on Thursdays and Fridays. We take it in turns to work Wednesdays.
In Dragon class we use Class Dojo to keep in touch with both parents and pupils: Copies of letters, photos, homework and reminders of events will be sent this way and messages can be sent and received where required.
PE will be on Thursdays. Please keep an indoor and outdoor kit in school every day in case of changes to the timetable.
Homework this year will consist purely of reading, spelling and times table practise and this is the same throughout the school.
Swimming will continue to run on Tuesdays as it did in Y3. Please ensure long hair is tied back and no earrings are worn on this day. If you are able to accompany us on the bus please let us know ASAP.
A spelling test will be done every Monday. (Spelling lists are in the children's planners for them to learn as well as on dojo if they leave their planner at school) Each week the children will be tested on the 6 words they have been learning along with 4 others taken from previous weeks.
Times tables tests will be on Fridays. Please help your child to practise as often as possible as it helps so much in their general, day to day maths work. The tests focuses on instant recall of all times tables and is delivered with a time limit for each question.
We expect children to try and read at least 3 times a week either by themselves or to an adult. A mixture of both would be most beneficial.
We want your child to feel happy and secure at school and this is our ultimate aim to enable them to make consistent progress. If there are any problems, questions or concerns about your child please don’t hesitate to pop in and see us after school, send a message through class dojo or email if you prefer.
Our topic this half term is ‘Robots’. We will learn about what a robot is, how they help people around the world, design and make our own robots and do some fantastic robot art.
In Science lessons, we will be learning about electricity and, in RE, our focus will be on Christianity.
In Maths lessons, we will be focusing on times tables, multiplication and division.
In English lessons, we will be writing a ‘robot’ tale and writing a user's guide for our own robots.
