Welcome to Elf Class!

Dear Parents and Carers,

Welcome to the final half-term in Elf Class. Where has this year gone?

This half term we will be joining in with a whole school topic called ‘Happy Me, Healthy Me’. We will spend time exploring our emotions, looking back at our own history and thinking about our dreams for the future. We will have lots of fun ‘getting active’, thinking about our own talents and considering how we are all special and unique.

We have some exciting events planned, including Sports’ Day/ Leavers’ Presentation for the older children and a Teddy Bears’ Picnic for the younger children. Please make a note of the dates, on the parent overview, which is attached below.

For elves who will no longer be with us in September, you will receive a Record of Achievement for your child, at the end of term. This is to accompany all of the Evidence Me observations we have sent to you throughout the year.

If your child is an elf who will be continuing with us in September, there is a Parents’ Evening opportunity on Thursday 21st July, should you wish to discuss your child’s progress.

Reminders:

  • As we are now in the summer term please ensure your child has a sun hat with them every day and that sun cream has been applied before they arrive. If your child attends for full days, we can reapply sun cream at lunch time, if necessary (please provide a named bottle of cream, to be kept in your child’s bag)
  • Please continue to send your child with a coat, unless we are experiencing a period of very hot weather.
  • Snack money (10p per session) to be paid directly to a member of Elf Class staff.
  • Lunch club money (£2 per day) to be sent in a sealed envelope with child’s name, amount included and ‘lunch club’ clearly written on the front (we will pass this on to the office)

If you have any questions please do not hesitate to come and see us.

Thank you for your continued support throughout the year.

World Book Day 2022

Dear Parents and Carers,

Welcome back, we hope you enjoyed a lovely half term break.

Our new topic is ‘Nursery Rhymes’. We have lots of amazing learning opportunities planned!

(Please take a look at the attached parent overview to find out more)

On Friday 1st April we would like to invite you to join us for an Easter celebration. The children will give a short performance of Easter songs and we will be serving an Easter brunch for everyone to enjoy. There will also be a children’s raffle. More details to follow shortly.

We hope you are enjoying receiving your ‘Evidence Me’ observations. Please let us know if you are having any problems viewing these.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank you, once again, for the generous sponsorship donations when the children completed the ‘wheelathon’. The money has now been spent on a range of wonderful learning resources to enhance our provision, ranging from role play items and jigsaw puzzles right through to large construction items for the outdoor area. We are so lucky to have such supportive parents/ extended families/ friends and it really does make a huge difference J

Reminders:

  • Snack money is 10p per session. This is to be handed in to a member of staff in Elf Class. This also covers the cost of ingredients for baking.
  • We encourage children to bring their own water bottle in to class. Please ensure this is clearly named and is filled with water only (no juice please as this is very sticky if it spills!) If your child is bringing a packed lunch, they do not need to bring an additional drink, as all children are provided with drinking water, in the dining room.
  • Please ensure all clothing is named.
  • Please make sure your child has a bag of spare clothes on their peg.
  • Please ensure your child wears a suitable coat and brings a hat and gloves to school as we go outside in all weathers!
  • Our PE sessions are Thursday afternoon and Tuesday morning. Children do not need any PE kit but it would be useful for them to practise being able take off and put on their own shoes and socks.

If you have any questions please do not hesitate to come and see us.

Thank you for your support,

Parent Overview Nursery Rhymes Topic 2022

Dear Parents and Carers,

Happy New Year and welcome to all of our new Elves – Eirian, Lacey, Harley and Ruby. We hope you will be very happy with us.

This half-term, our topic is called ‘All About Me’.  We will be learning about ourselves, our bodies, families and how to keep healthy. We have  lots of amazing learning opportunities planned! (Please see the parent overview, attached below, for further details)

We are hoping to take the children on a bus ride to Worksop, where we will visit a real dental practice. We will have the opportunity to take a look around and learn all about how to look after our teeth. At this time, we are unsure whether this will be able to go ahead, due to Covid restrictions, but we will update you as soon as we have confirmation.

We hope that you are enjoying receiving (via email) the observations and photos of your child playing and learning in Elf Class. If you are experiencing any problems viewing these, please let us know.

Reminders:

  • If your child is going to be having a school dinner, please let one of us (or a member of staff in Breakfast Club) know, when you arrive in the morning. School dinners must be paid for via your online Squid account.
  • Please ensure all clothing is named, and that your child has a bag of spare clothes on their peg at all times.
  • Snack money is 10p per session (£1 per week for full time children) – payable weekly or termly, directly to Elf Class, please.
  • Lunch club money (£2 per day/ £10 per week) should be sent in a separate envelope, clearly labelled with child’s name and ‘lunch club’.
  • Please ensure your child wears a suitable coat and brings a hat, scarf and gloves to school as we go outside in all weathers!
