Welcome to the Governors' Section!
Our school governors make a valuable contribution to children’s education, opportunities and futures. Together with the headteacher, who is responsible for day-to-day management, they set the school's aims and policies. Being a school governor is a challenging but hugely rewarding role.

The Governing Body has three main functions, which are:

• Overseeing the financial performance of the school and making sure its money is well spent
• Holding the headteacher to account for the educational performance of the school and its pupils
• Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction

They also carry out a number of other important duties, which include:

• Determining how the school's budget is spent
• Ensuring that school's safeguarding procedures are robust and effective
• Hearing appeals and grievances
• Forming policy on the school's curriculum
• Setting standards for pupil behaviour
• Making sure school buildings are welcoming and safe
• Setting and monitoring the school's aims and policies
• Staff recruitment and retention
