  • Happy Birthday To Us!

    Thu 28 Feb 2013
Today is a special day for Gateford Park as we become a teenager!

It was 13 years ago today, on 28 February 2000 that the first children walked through the doors to be the very first pupils at the school, atlhough the school wasn't 'officially' opened until November 2000.

We are looking forward to our teenage years and expect them to be full of great learning and fun and continuing to provide 'Excellence and Enjoyment for All'.

    Happy Birthday to us!
  • School Council Makes History

    Sat 09 Feb 2013
Gateford Park's School council made history on Wednesday, as they became the first children ever to hold a meeting in Bassetlaw District Council's meeting chambers.

The children met local councillors and officers and found out a little about how local government works.  They learned how to use the special microphones in the council meeting room and had a great time.

The children came away with lots of Bassetlaw DC goodies - which always goes down well.  Our local councillor, Bill Barker, commented that the children are a credit to the school and the Worksop community.  We are sure to have a future Prime Minister (or two!) among them!

Our thanks go to Miss Robinson, Mrs. Hibbert, Mrs. Matthews and Mrs. Norton for their great work with the School Council, and to Cllr. Barker for his kind welcome and arranging the transport for us.

    Great job, Team GP!

Please check back soon for photos of the day.

  • PTFA Valentine Disco a huge success

    Fri 08 Feb 2013
Everyone had a great time at the PTFA Valentine Discos yesterday.

There was great music, great dancing and a great time with friends.

The PTFA raised a tremendous £471.51 on the night, which will go to support those important little extras for the children at school.

Thank you to everyone who supported the discos and to the PTFA for their hard work and commitment to the school.  Great job, Team GP!

  • TUESDAY - OPEN

    Tue 22 Jan 2013
    Tuesday - 7.30am

I am delighted to tell you that school is open as normal today.  Please take extra care on Alexander Drive and Amherst Rise - they are both still a little slippy.  Please also take extra care on the paths in and around school.

    Thank you.

    Monday - 5.00pm

Looking at the current weather and the forecast, it is our intention to open as normal tomorrow.

My thanks go to the few staff who were able to come in this morning to help us to move a lot of snow.  With staff living far and wide, it would not have been safe to open the school today and attempt to run on a skeleton staff.

Please take extra care on the roads and paths both in and around school in the morning.

If anything changes and the forecasters have got it wrong again, you will hear from us in the usual ways.

Once again, thank you for your patience and understanding about the closure today.  It is very much appreciated.

  • Artists Assemble in Years 5 and 6

    Tue 22 Jan 2013
This afternoon pupils in Years 5 & 6 had an amazing art lesson in the snow where they made their own 'Marvel-lous Superheroes'. Have a browse at the fantastic designs the children created.
  • Fun in the snow!

    Sat 19 Jan 2013
Have you been busy having fun in the snow this weekend?

We would love to make a display of you snowy adventures in school.  You can e-mail photos of your snowy creations to office@gateford.notts.sch.uk for everyone at school to see.  Grown-ups too!

    Thank you!
  • The Weather!

    Sat 12 Jan 2013
As the forecast for next week is looking a little snowy, here is a little reminder about what will happen if we are forced to close due to the weather.

There is no need for you to contact the school.  Please do not call us to check if the school is open.  If you do not hear from us, it is business as usual.

If a decision is taken to close during the school day, announcements will be made by text, on the school website and on local radio.  If the decision is made before the start of a school day, we will give you as much notice as possible and announce it in the same way.

Closing the school is always a last resort and a little dusting of snow is not going to be a major problem.  But it's always better to be safe than sorry.

    Thank you.

  • Year 6 DARE Graduation

    Mon 17 Dec 2012
Well done to the Year 6 children who graduated on the DARE programme last week. Their graduation ceremony was brilliantly written by the children based on the game show 'Take Me Out' and showed how much they have learned about substance misuse and how to make the right choices in life. Well done to Miss Read, Miss Reynolds and DARE Officer Mr Graham for supporting the children in their learning.
  • Festive Film Club

    Mon 17 Dec 2012
What a fantastic time we are all having at Festive Film Club.

The hall looks a little like a fancy dinner theatre with everyone enjoying sweeties, popcorn, special Gateford ice-cream and 'Arthur Christmas'.

    See a few photos below.

Thank you to everyone who has supported Film Club throughout 2012.  Your kind donations have led to new resources being bought for the children to use below.

We're already looking forward to the first Film Club of 2013.
