  • Silver medals all round for the fantastic Year 6 athletics team!!

    Mon 07 Nov 2011

Well done to our fantastic Year 6 athletics team, who have done us proud today at the English Institute of Sport in Sheffield!

We competed against all of the Portland family of schools and missed out on first place by only ONE point!!

The children showed (olympic!) values of respect, excellence and determination, competing in ten events which included; 1000m, 600m, hurdles, sprinting, javelin, shot put, triple jump, long jump and high jump.

The children looked fantastic in the school's new athletics kit which has been kindly donated by the PTFA.

Another trophy for the school, well done all and thank you for making us so proud!

    Miss Read

Please see below some photographs of our day; apologies if some are a little blurry, it's because the children were moving so fast!

    Thu 20 Oct 2011

We're all still really enjoying ourselves here at Caythorpe; disco last night and everyone fast asleep by 10.30! Today we have been fencing, climbing, jacob's ladder and problem solving.

We're all very excited about Mrs Blackman's visit tonight and making the most of our last full day here.

  • News from PGL!

    Tue 11 Oct 2011

We are all having great time here at PGL Caythorpe!
So far this week the children have taken part in vertical challenge, orienteering, abseiling, trapeze, sensory trail and rifle shooting.

The children are proving to be very brave and are giving everything their best.
Last night the children had a great nights sleep and when we woke up this morning, by some small miracle, there was not a sound in the dormitories!

We're all looking forward to the talent show and disco tonight. The teachers have taken loads of great photographs and will put them on as soon as we can.

  • Helping Hands

    Mon 10 Oct 2011

A huge 'Thank You' to all the mums and dads who have been giving up their time to come and help out doing various tasks in and around school.

The school garden is beginining to look much more 'cared for', as a result of your hard work weeding and digging! There will soon be ongoing 'photographic evidence' of the transformation of our gardens, as you continue to prepare the land for planting flowers and growing our own vegetables.

The teachers really appreciate having extra pairs of hands to help out in their classrooms. It's great to see so many parents in school. If anyone is keen to come in an help out, please contact Miss Butler for more information.

Thank you again, you really are helping us to make our school an even better place to be.

  • Zumba!

    Mon 10 Oct 2011

Thank you to all those people who attended the zumba 'taster' session in the school hall last Thursday.

To keep you updated, there will be a zumba class for children and adults on Tuesdays at 4.45pm-5.30pm starting on the 11th October. The cost for this will be £3.00 - what a bargain!

After half term the Tuesday class will continue and we will also be offering another, shorter class for children and adults on a Thursday at 3.30pm-4.00pm at a cost of £2.00.

Both of these classes are 'pay on the door'. It would be lovely to see lots of you there.

Watch this space for further upcoming events at our school.

A big thank you goes from all of us to everyone who came to join in our Harvest Festivals today.  The children certainly enjoyed putting on the performances and we hope that you enjoyed coming to share them with us.  We especially loved your dancing!

All of the produce that was collected today will be delivered to elderly people who live close to the school in the morning.

Thank you for your continuing support for our school.

Fantastic news from the Sports Fields!

After some fantastic performances, with first, second and third places going to Gateford girls, our team was victorious and became the Bassetlaw district champions!

Well done to Lucy, Lucy, Emma and Amelia!  We are very proud of you!

Our thanks go to the parents whose support made this possible.
