In our FS1 (Nursery) class, children learn through the Foundation Stage Framework consisting of 7 areas of learning: Personal, Social and Emotional Development, Physical Development, Communication and Language, Literacy, Mathematics, Understanding the World and Expressive Arts and Design.
Each day the children access both indoor and outdoor continuous, play based, provision which allows the children to choose different activities which aim to further enhance and develop their skills.
The children take part in whole class and group learning sessions in addition to daily stories, singing and phonics.
The children and their interests, needs and responses are at the heart of all we do and a big priority for us is for all of our children to be happy and engaged and we believe these go hand in hand.
We share regular updates, photographs of our learning adventures and class news via Class Dojo.

We offer both 15 hours / part time and 30 hours / full time (if eligible) places.

You can either send children with a packed lunch or order a school dinner (extra £2.70).
School Uniform
At Gateford Park, our nursery children wear the same uniform as the rest of the school: a white polo shirt (with or without logo), black or grey skirt/pinafore or trousers, blue gingham dresses, and a blue sweater or cardigan (ideally with logo). Children should wear black school shoes with their uniform, not trainers. Jewellery should be kept to an absolute minimum for safety reasons and because valuable items can be easily lost. Please no necklaces, bracelets, rings or dangly earrings.
Nursery children may also choose to wear leggings or joggers on their lower half instead, as this makes outdoor play more comfortable. They must bring wellies to school, as the children go outside every day in all weathers. Please make sure they are dressed appropriately for the conditions, as outdoor play is a key part of their learning.
Children in nursery do not need a PE kit.
Reminders:
As a school we value our families and the partnership we share in supporting our children greatly and look forward to continuing to work together as a team.
Thank you,
Elf Class Team
